Okay, pictures as promised.

Here is my kitchen. I started painting about 10:30 last night. I'm planning on putting my china in wrought iron plate holders on the walls above the cupboards.

Here is the Sliding door vallance. It seems too short? I'm thinking that's why it looks funny? Not sure. Opinions please? Also- that wall between the windows and the door. What would you put there??Megan hit her tooth on the playground about a year and a half ago. It died and turned black. About a week and a half ago it abcessed so we had to have it pulled yesterday (after a round of antibiodics.) Before:

After:She was so good at the dentist... after they gave her drugs. I couldn't believe how compliant and pleasant she was. She kept talking really loud though- like you'd expect her to act if she was drunk. I asked for some to take home- but they said no.

Corinne's newest trick is sucking from a straw. My huge WW cup straw even. Here she is just being cute. She also likes her tounge.
And here is Ashley at her family birthday party. Notice the cake? Same cake as for her 'friend' party two days before. We fed them the beehive and then I redid the top of the cake and put frozen buttercream transfer flowers on top. I think the cake was even moister after sitting in the fridge for two days.
And so that I'm fair and don't leave anyone out- here is Annika scaling the pantry. Yes, I'm the best mom ever. There were cookies, crackers, chips and fruit snacks. She was after the rolls. That'll teach me to leave that door open.
Whew! Okay, I've got a recipe exchange here tonight for church so I've got to shower and stuff. I've been working hard all day!

Good job on the kitchen! I think Annika and my A are in cahoots. He constantly scales EVERYTHING. Drives me nuts.

Hi there... my thought at first was also that the valence was too short, but it's also maybe b/c the curtain rods are at such different heights too. You could always do a vertical plate rack or something too in that space. I love the idea of china in wrought iron holders. I got one for Christmas to put tea cups and saucers in ... once I have a place where I can store them safely "in the open"
Love ya cuz
Maria =)

Ha! I've just realized that my 10-month old is going to be a climber, too. That photo is especially funny to me, though I'm sure it may've stopped your heart a minute.

As for the kitchen, I personally think that maybe something else is needed besides the valance to soften the hard edges of the window. I'm thinking all those right angles are what's looking strange. I think the valance is fine, but maybe add some curtains to the sides, or a trailing plant or something?

I think the same as Maria - raise the curtain rod on the window so it is the same height as the one on the doors. Then you can put a valence on it to hide the space that is wall instead of window and it will give the illusion of a bigger window. The valence on the window and the door should be either the same length (probably that) or at least the same proportions of the window and door should be covered.

The colors are good.. Blue is my favorite!

The baker's rack in the middle might be a good idea, or something curvy - Or maybe a plant like a plam or a ficus (fake is still pretty and babies can't dig them up!)

You're lucky it was only rolls whe was after, Michael climbed a shlef like that and ate Comet Scouring powder!
