Things that I've learned at my many doctor visits recently..

The bigger the practice and the bigger the waiting room and the more recepionists, nurses, and other staff they have means the longer the wait time and the less personal your visit will be. Also, the more information regarding your symptoms they have you write down the more times they'll ask you what those symptoms are and why you're there. The more embarrassing the symptoms? Then the louder they'll ask and in front of more people. Seriously I'm not sure why they have you fill out your medical history at all- it's not like a single person looks at it. My new response when they ask me a question I've already answered on paper? "I believe that I answered that question on #5 on page 35 of your survey, approximately 56 minutes ago while I was waiting."

Gahk! I KNOW! Nobody looks at those stupid things, it drives me NUTS. SOmetimes I think they give you those papers to fill out as time-filler type busywork.

I hope they can figure out what is wrong and that you feel better soon!

For five years of a certain complaint (painful complaint I might add) every doctor had the same diagnosis: "SHE'S NUTS!" layman's terms I am sure, but that was the jist of it.

One particular night we, again, ended up in the ER with said pain and complaint. A new dr. comes in and low and behold comes up with a different diagnosis. He sent me x-ray and did a blood work up and prescribed a certain in the ER drug to ease the pain right then and there. The pain left immediately and I thought, "Plecibo! I AM nuts!"

After all the labs came back he tok one look at me and said, "You have kidney stones. You've had them for years. Why hasn't anyone taken care of this before?"

Turns out he listen to what I was describing and then READ THE CHART!

Haven't had them since, and switched dr.s. Go figure.
